Questions to Ask Before Hiring an Electrician

Electrician Are They Licensed?

To work in Colorado as an Electrical Contractor you must be licensed. A city license may also be required depending on where the work is to take place. You can verify a contractor's credentials by calling or visiting your state licensing board's website. Hiring an unlicensed contractor means you accept responsibility for any damage.

Do They Have a Good Reputation?

The best way to check this is to ask for references. Get leads from trade organizations, local suppliers, friends or neighbors. A contractor with a good reputation will be glad to provide references and possibly even have customer testimonials for you to review.

Do They Carry Liability Insurance?

To adequately protect your property, all contractors should carry a minimum of one million dollars in liability insurance.

Do They Pull Permits?

Only licensed electrical contractor can obtain necessary permits. By law, they are responsible for the work and for fixing any problems the building inspector finds.

Do They Protect the Customer?
